Limburg entrepreneurs foresee a bright future
The ‘European Economic Survey’ shows that Limburg business managers are relatively optimistic, compared to their counterparts throughout the rest of Europe. Whilst last year they were the most optimistic in Europe, Limburg will drop to fifth place in 2012. The European chambers of commerce surveyed 70,000 companies from 25 countries and VOKA-Limburg Chamber of Commerce conducted the survey for our province.
Johann Compline concludes: "Once again the Limburg entrepreneurs are showing their optimistic sides.
The general economic outlook for 2012 lies above the Belgian average and well above the European average. 36.7% of the Limburg-based companies see the economy evolving favourably next year, 53.3% expect next year to continue equally, while only 10% feel it has pessimistic prospects.”
The increase in revenue will mostly have to come from exports. Four out of ten Limburg entrepreneurs expect an increase in export activity, which will improve turnover, while one out of five expect the opposite effect (lower revenues due to a decrease in the exports of goods). Finally, 23.3% predict an increase in employment for their company, and 13.3% think it will be necessary to cut back on the workforce in 2012.
