Stanley Black & Decker distribution centre settles in Tessenderlo

The new distribution centre of the Stanley Black & Decker group in Tessenderlo will become the largest one to be built in Belgium in the last three years. Situated in the Ravenhout industrial park in Tessenderlo, a 150,000 m² complex will be built, close to the Albert Canal and the container terminal in Meerhout. The project involves an investment of over 40 million euros. The Australian Goodman group, a listed property developer, will build the project.

The merged Stanley Black & Decker group, which sells appliances under brand names such as Black & Decker, Stanley, Bostitch, and DeWalt, already stated in the middle of this year, that it would centralise all of its logistics activities in Tessenderlo. At present, there are still centres in Aarschot, Mechelen and Tongeren. Ceva Logistics will operate the latter for Black & Decker. Last year, Ceva signed a five-year contract thereto with its customer, Black & Decker. However, the merger between Stanley and Black & Decker changed all of that.

A part of the new complex will be put into use soon. In late November, almost 65,000 m² should be ready. In total, the new distribution centre will contain as many as 93 loading docks, where lorries will be coming and going for the distribution of construction and do-it-yourself materials.
